We have designed numerous fire- and blast-rated buildings for the defence, pharmaceuticals, power and nuclear industries.


Hazardous buildings are always designed and engineered to meet the client's exact specification and will consider the following:

  • Specific explosion or blast design requirements
  • Seismic
  • Fire rating, from cellulosic fires A0 to A60, through to Hydrocarbon fires, H0 to H120 and specific jet fire requirements
  • Acoustic performance criteria
  • Thermal requirements to suit location within a facility

We have designed fire- and blast-rated accommodation spaces, control rooms, emergency equipment rooms, switchgear and plant rooms, and escape tunnels. Our team regularly works direct with the client or manufacturer to provide design assistance focussing on key human factor elements and human/machine interface requirements. We will also provide assurance and compliance checks to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
